CentraState's Endovascular Lab provides state-of-the-art treatment for non-cardiac vascular conditions such as clogged, collapsed or otherwise compromised blood vessels. It is a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery. Until now, the use of endovascular intervention has largely been confined to hospitals with highly specialized programs, research institutions and academic medical centers, but through the commitment of our hospital administration, expert staff and highly skilled physicians, we can now offer a range of endovascular services comparable to that of any major academic center.

Resolving Problems From the Inside Out
Through endovascular intervention, problems affecting blood vessels are treated from within the vessels themselves. A specially trained physician inserts a thin, flexible tube (catheter) through a small incision in an easily accessible artery and uses advanced X-ray imaging technology to help guide the catheter through the blood vessels to the exact location of the problem. Through this catheter, the physician is able to deliver miniature devices designed to open up and sometimes clean out the clogged vessel. These devices can include balloons, stents (metal tubes similar to the spring on the inside of a ball point pen), and equipment available at few other hospitals in Monmouth or Ocean Counties, such as a specialized laser used to vaporize blockages. Clot-busting medications also can be delivered through a catheter, or a special miniature AngioJet® machine can be maneuvered directly to a clot to suction it out.
