Every expectant mother is admitted to a private room on CentraState's Labor and Delivery Unit. Traditional deliveries take place in the room, with no discomforting journey to a "delivery room" while in labor. Women requiring a C-section deliver in a dedicated operating room connected to the Labor and Delivery Unit—not a traditional operating room used for the many other operations performed at CentraState.

When mothers and newborns are ready, they move together to another private room in CentraState's Maternity Pavilion, on the same floor but separate from the labor and delivery area. There, baby can stay with mom until discharge, or be cared for by a member of CentraState's maternal child staff. To encourage the family bond, the father or another family member can also spend the night in the room. The hospital provides room-service dining, so moms can choose when they dine and select from a comprehensive menu, restaurant style. A complimentary meal is provided for dad or significant other.

The Maternity Pavilion nurses station is located centrally in the department. The staff is only a few steps away from each patient room, and within sight of the nursery where babies can stay if the mother wants to rest without her newborn.

Many newborns never spend a moment in CentraState's nursery, as their mothers prefer to keep them bedside until discharge. Some mothers ask CentraState's caring staff to watch their child while they rest, bathe, or dine. Be sure to look during your virtual tour to see the attention to detail used in creating this warm and comforting environment.
