CentraState and VNAHG to provide free mammograms

for non-insured

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIPCentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Women’s Health Center and the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group are once again partnering to provide free breast exams and mammograms to women who meet certain eligibility guidelines. The free screenings are Thursday, October 10, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Wednesday, October 23, from 4-8 p.m., at the Women’s Health Center, 901 W. Main Street, Freehold, NJ.

To be eligible for the free breast exam and mammogram, participants must be a New Jersey resident, satisfy certain financial eligibility requirements, and be uninsured. VNA staff will complete the financial screening, a nurse practitioner will do the breast exam, and the Women’s Center staff will perform the mammogram—all in one, convenient visit. The goal is to provide one-stop-shopping to help women who do not have health insurance during these difficult economic times make their health a priority this October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Participants who receive a mammography will also get a $30 gift certificate toward any regular-priced service at the ABC Day Spa at the Star & Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, a one-week pass to the CentraState Fitness & Wellness Center, and a complimentary black tote bag and calendar.

CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Women’s Health Center was the first in the area to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) by the American College of Radiology. The Center offers technical expertise, test results within 24 hours, customized health education and counseling services from an all-female staff, and provides a breast health nurse specialist who is a public educator on breast diseases and cancer detection. In addition to mammography, the center also offers stereotactic needle biopsy, breast needle localization, and bone densitometry.

The number of free mammograms available is limited and registration is required. For more information about this free breast health program or to schedule an appointment, call (732) 303-3636.

CentraState Healthcare System is a nonprofit community health organization consisting of an acute-care hospital, a health and wellness campus, three senior living communities, a Family Medicine Residency Program, and a charitable foundation.
