CentraState Earns Joint Commission Reaccreditation for Total Joint Program

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP— CentraState Medical Center has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Two-Year Accreditation for its Total Joint Program by demonstrating compliance with The Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The two-year reaccreditation extends from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016.

The Total Joint Center of New Jersey at CentraState provides comprehensive, integrated care including a team of board-certified orthopedic surgeons, specially trained orthopedic nurses, a total joint coordinator, patient care technicians, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians, and other care providers across the continuum.

Joint Commission recognition was earned only after CentraState underwent a rigorous on-site survey by the Commission’s expert surveyor and was evaluated for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership, quality and performance improvement, and medication management.

“Achieving Joint Commission certification means that CentraState has demonstrated a commitment to providing the highest level of patient care,” says Alan S. Nasar, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and medical director, The Total Joint Center of New Jersey at CentraState. “This measure of success also speaks volumes about the significant efforts of our clinical team, and is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide patients right here in the community.”

The Joint Commission, founded in 1951, is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Today, more than 20,000 health care providers use Joint Commission standards to guide how they administer care and continuously improve performance.

CentraState Healthcare System is a nonprofit community health organization consisting of an acute-care hospital, a health and wellness campus, three senior living communities, a Family Medicine Residency Program, and a charitable foundation.
