Wound Treatment Center

Everyone occasionally suffers minor cuts, scrapes and bruises. For most of us, these wounds are an inconvenience, but not a cause for concern. That's not the case for approximately 5 million Americans, whose wound-healing process is hampered by a chronic condition such as diabetes or multiple sclerosis, poor circulation, or long-term immobility. For them, a seemingly inconsequential injury canresult in a non-healing (chronic) wound and infection, which can lead to more serious complications.
Diagnosis, Treatment & Education
The Central Jersey Wound Treatment Center at CentraState provides a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of non-healing (chronic) wounds, using the most advanced technology and procedures, including hyperbaric therapy.

In addition to treating the wound itself, our staff is focused on prevention—educating patients and their caretakers on methods of proper wound care as well as changes in nutrition or exercise that could accelerate the healing process and prevent recurrences.

Located at the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus adjacent to CentraState Medical Center, the Wound Treatment Center has easy access to a wide range of resources and expertise, such as the nutritionists at the Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, exercise physiologists at the Fitness & Wellness Center, and diabetes specialists at the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center who can help with managing the disease—a contributing factor in many non-healing wounds.

The wound care team includes an advanced practice nurse, physical therapists, and board-certified physicians from a variety of specialties—such as podiatry, and general, vascular and plastic surgery—to diagnose and treat multiple types of wounds depending on their cause.
Highly Rated In Patient Satisfaction
The Wound Treatment Centerroutinely rates in the top 10 percent in patient satisfaction in comparison with other wound treatment programs nationwide as rated by Press Ganey Associates, the nation's most respected patient satisfaction measurement and improvement firm.
Making An Appointment & What To Expect
If you have a sore or ulcer that hasn't shown improvement or if the area hasn't entirely healed within two months, you should speak with your primary care physician about specialized wound care treatment. A physician referral is not necessary to access the Wound Treatment Center unless your insurance requires it. Call (866) NJWOUND to schedule an appointment. The staff will gladly answer any questions and concerns you might have about a specific wound or about the center itself.

On your first visit, you will receive a thorough initial examination and appraisal including diagnostic testing as appropriate to determine why the wounds hasn't healed. Based on the results of this comprehensive assessment customized treatment and education plan will be developed for you.
