Accreditations and Recognition
The Women’s Health Center is accredited by, and has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
, by the American College of Radiology (ACR)
in Mammography. The Women's Health Center is the only facility in western Monmouth County and one of only 34 imaging facilities in New Jersey to receive the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR. The Center of Excellence designation recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned ACR accreditation in mammography, stereotactic needle biopsy, and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Accreditation by the ACR is considered the gold seal of approval in assuring a facility meets the highest level of patient safety standards and image quality.
In awarding Breast Imaging Center of Excellence status, the ACR uses peer-review evaluations conducted by expert board-certified physicians and medical physicists to determine whether a facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
Widely recognized as a measure of quality care, ACR accreditation is valid for three years, and includes on-site surveys performed by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists.
