Sleep Disorders

Do you sleep soundly but wake up feeling unrefreshed and rundown during the day? If so, you could be one of almost 50 million Americans who suffer from a sleep disorder.

Sleep disorders can cause a variety of troubling symptoms— including impaired work, academic or athletic performance, memory loss and mood disturbance. They also may lead to serious medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart attack, or stroke, or make existing health problems worse. They also are a leading cause of motor vehicle accidents.
About the Center for Sleep Disorders
CentraState's Center for Sleep Disorders is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and is one of a select few hospital-based sleep centers in the area. Being part of a healthcare system gives us immediate access to on-site experts in a wide range of complementary medical specialties as well as to other resources typically available in a hospital setting. The experienced and caring experts at our state-of-the-art Center for Sleep Disorders use advanced technology in a comfortable, private, home-like environment to get to the root of what's causing your symptom(s) and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

The Center for Sleep Disorders doubled in size in 2004 to better serve the growing number of patients seeking relief for sleep-related disorders. Among other things, the expansion helps to ensure that the Center for Sleep Disorders can see you and return your results in a timely fashion.
Services Offered: Skilled Diagnoses & Tailored Treatment Plans
At the Center for Sleep Disorders, we perform both overnight and daytime diagnostic tests — polysomnographic (PSG) studies. Your study is interpreted by one of our board-certified sleep physicians, who then meets with you to discuss the findings and recommend appropriate therapy.

We also offer CPAP desensitization services for sleep-disorder patients who have difficulty adjusting to the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device— a common therapy for sleep apnea. The services are covered by most insurance plans and can be performed in a couple hours during the day.
A Comfortable, Homelike Environment
At the Center for Sleep Disorders, we want to make your experience as comfortable and convenient as possible. Our four spacious private bedroom suites for adults and teens include televisions with DVD players, bedside reading lamps and private bathrooms with showers. Each suite features a queen-sized bed made up with freshly laundered linens. Pillows are provided, although some patients prefer to bring their own.

We also have an assortment of snack foods available— a courtesy of particular importance to patients who must monitor their blood-sugar levels. In the morning following an overnight sleep study, coffee, tea and a light snack are available on your way out.

Our bedroom suites are where we conduct polysomnograms, or sleep studies, which record patients’ sleep patterns and monitor brain, heart, muscle and breathing activity to aid in diagnosis. Treatments to resolve or mitigate sleep disorders, once they have been identified, include breathing devices, regular napping, drug therapy, relaxation exercises, surgery, dental devices and/or treatment of underlying problems such as anxiety or depression.
