Diabetes can be a complicated and frustrating disease. CentraState’s primary care physicians and diabetes specialists help provide high quality care for patients receiving treatment and services for type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In addition, CentraState’s Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center provides outpatient services and works with CentraState patients to provide both diabetes management and prevention.
Diabetes is quickly becoming an epidemic within the United States due to the population’s high prevalence of obesity. Many people with diabetes develop diabetes later in life due to obesity problems. CentraState Medical Center is focused on providing education, treatment and prevention programs for those at risk of developing diabetes or living with diabetes.
Adventures In Health Diabetes Prevention Program
CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center and Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center premiered an educational DVD and activity guide about diabetes and obesity prevention for children on December 9. The program, designed for children in second through fifth grades, was funded by a $100,000 grant from Novo Nordisk Inc., and $60,000 from CentraState Healthcare Foundation.
