CentraState is reaccredited a Bariatric Center of Excellence

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP—The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) has once again named CentraState Medical Center a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE). The designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in weight-loss surgery. To earn the redesignation, CentraState’s surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected. The three-year reaccreditation extends through February 2016.

BSCOE designation acknowledges CentraState’s commitment to providing quality improvement and patient safety for bariatric surgery patients. It also means it has demonstrated that it meets the needs of those patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality, patient-centered care.

The comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program at CentraState Medical Center offers surgical services including gastric bypass surgery (open and laparoscopic (Roux-en-Y) surgery), gastric banding surgery, and sleeve gastrectomy surgery for people who are morbidly obese and meet other certain criteria. CentraState also offers robotic surgical technology for certain bariatric procedures. The bariatric weight-loss program team of registered dietitians, sleep and pulmonary specialists, nurses and other medical professionals offers patients options to meet differing lifestyles and health needs and guide and support patients before, during and after surgery to prepare them for the changes to come and help them achieve desired results. For more information about all of the weight-loss surgical services offered at CentraState Medical Center, call (866) CENTRA7 (866-236-8727) or visit centrastate.com/surgical-services.

CentraState Healthcare System is a nonprofit community health organization consisting of an acute-care hospital, a health and wellness campus, three senior living communities, a Family Medicine Residency Program, and a charitable foundation.
