FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP—CentraState Medical Center has begun construction of a new and expanded Intensive Care Unit on the fifth floor of the Blanchet-Phillis Memorial Tower (east wing). The $15-million project is part of CentraState’s commitment to providing high-quality care and the latest technologies to patients. The new 26 bed, state-of-the-art ICU is scheduled to open in fall 2009.
As part of the construction, all services on the fifth floor or the east wing are relocating to make room for the new ICU.
These include Outpatient Chronic Dialysis, which has moved to the second floor of the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus; and Inpatient Dialysis, to the first floor of the hospital next to the Short Stay unit.
CentraState recommends that patients for outpatient dialysis—managed by a private company called Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) of Freehold—park on the north side (behind) the Ambulatory Campus. The new ambulatory building is connected to the west side of CentraState Medical Center.
"As we make these upgrades, our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and without interruption of outpatient services for all patients and visitors," James Karaman, assistant vice president, Operations, says.
For questions about the location of outpatient diabetes services or scheduling during this time, call DCI at (732) 294-2629. For information about inpatient diabetes services, call the Centralized Scheduling Office at (732) 294-2778.
