CentraState to Hold an Inspirational and Educational Event for People That Use Prosthetic Devices

The OceanFirst Rehabilitation Center at CentraState, in partnership with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, is hosting No Barriers, No Limits, a special event for people that use prosthetic devices. The event is Saturday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, 901 W. Main Street, Freehold.

No Barriers, No Limits is for anyone who is new to prosthetics or has been using them for years. The event will feature new advances in the development of limb replacement technology, including new electronics and therapies that can help one achieve the highest level of function and quality of life.

At noon, participants will have the opportunity to meet and hear from special guest speaker and paralympic gold medalist, Rudy Garcia-Tolson, who will discuss his #nolegsnolimits motto and the challenges that he has overcome.

The event will also include:

  • Gait analysis to determine improvement with different prosthetic components
  • A meet and greet with prosthetic physicians and rehabilitation specialists
  • Fittings and alignment checks with a variety of prosthetic vendors, including LIM Innovations, Ossur, Ottobock, UNYQ, Ohio Willow Wood and Alternative Prosthetics
  • Information about specialized programs, including a free introduction to scuba diving class
