CentraState Healthcare System is offering PVD (peripheral vascular disease) screenings on Tuesday, January 30 from 6-8 p.m. at The OceanFirst Rehabilitation Center in CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, 901 W. Main Street, Freehold.
The painless screening is performed to identify a person’s health risk for PVD—the narrowing of vessels that carry blood throughout the body, which can increase your chances of having a heart attack or stroke. The screening is especially appropriate for people age 65 and older who are experiencing potential PVD symptoms such as cramping, fatigue, heaviness, pain or discomfort in the legs, or high blood pressure. It is not for those who have a previous history of the disease.
The screening consists of measuring the blood pressure in your ankle and arm. A physician will be available to review the results of your assessment.
