CentraState Healthcare System is proud to announce the certification of its pulmonary rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). CentraState was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

Pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with pulmonary diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asbestosis, cystic fibrosis and lung transplant patients, recover faster and improve their quality of life. The program includes exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.

CentraState’s pulmonary rehabilitation program participated in the application process that requires extensive documentation of its program’s practices. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee and Certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors.

AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.

“Recognition by the AACVPR is powerful evidence of our commitment to provide a pathway to activity, socialization and active participation to increase overall health and quality of life for all of our pulmonary patients,” says John Whalen, clinical director, Respiratory Services, CentraState Healthcare System. “Our pulmonary rehab team takes great pride in encouraging patients to understand their disease, gain control of their symptoms and learn how to lessen the impact on their everyday lives.”
