Artwork depicting a scene from an emotional moment at CentraState Medical Center during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic has been selected to be displayed among 192 designs for the Rockefeller Center Flag Project.

In May, Rockefeller Center asked for submissions for a temporary art installation that celebrated the culture, energy, and strength of New York. Michael Zolnowski, son of CentraState nurse Denise Zolnowski, submitted a painting based on a photo his mother had shared him of nurses at CentraState praying together for strength on Easter morning after the loss of a patient who had COVID-19.

The 8’ x 5’ flags will fly from flagpoles surrounding The Rink at Rockefeller Center from August 1st through August 23rd. The exhibition is open to the public, no tickets are required.
