Imagine a place that makes learning fun and discovery exciting. While also addressing important health topics for children, like their changing bodies and self-care needs. That’s what you’ll find at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center.
We are a unique resource that promotes a healthy foundation for children and young parents. Our kids’ programs can help you start the conversation with your child and empowers them from a young age through their teen years.
Our center offers age-appropriate programs for children and health programs for expecting parents. Check out our educational and confidence-boosting classes, such as:
- Kids Eat Healthy: Kids with good eating habits become adults with good eating habits. This class will empower your child with good nutrition smarts that will last a lifetime and is best for ages 5-7.
- Girls Grow Up: Join us for a discussion on the physical, social, chemical, and emotional changes that will accompany puberty in your daughter. Some guidance along the way is a winning formula to build your child’s confidence and well-being. For girls ages 9-12 and a parent.
- Babysitting Clinic: This clinic is an all-inclusive information session that will help babysitters become more confident by teaching them about safety issues and how to handle emergencies. Topics included during this class are safety, basic child care, safe play, basic first aid, and what to do in case of a choking or cardiac emergency. For children ages 10 and older.
- Getting Ready for Baby: Your baby is due in a few months, and suddenly you’ve got a lot of questions: “What’s the safest way to bathe my baby?” “How do I calm her when she’s being fussy?” “What happens if he doesn’t latch on during breastfeeding?” CentraState’s RN health coaches developed over 50 fun, informative, on-demand video lessons. From childbirth preparation to infant care to breastfeeding, our maternal and newborn experts cover everything you need to know to help you prepare and care for your new baby.
