SPORTS INJURY SERVICES

If you’re dealing with a lingering or traumatic sports injury, your sports therapist can help you get back in the game. An in-depth evaluation includes a functional movement screening to assess your movement patterns and uncover any problems with your posture, breathing, and body mechanics.
Based on your screening results and other factors such as your age and goals, your sports physical therapist creates a tailored physical therapy program that combines hands-on therapy techniques with a customized exercise program. The goals of sports performance physical therapy are to:
- Ensure a safe, speedy recovery
- Target specific areas of the body that need strengthening and stabilizing
- Maintain and enhance fitness
- Learn proper body mechanics and movement techniques to prevent future injury

Our sports physical therapists are certified in the following techniques and treatment approaches to evaluate and treat athletes:
- Active Release Techniques
- Functional Movement Screen
- Functional Capacity Screen
- Graston Technique
- Selective Functional Movement Assessment
- Y-Balance Test
- Titleist Performance Institute (Certified Medical Professionals, Junior Golf Coaches, and Power Coaches)
In addition, CentraState’s offers a revolutionary approach to physical therapy, sports medicine, and conditioning with our aquatic and anti-gravitational treadmills. They allow users to build muscle strength, improve cardiovascular stamina, and increase healing—without the impact. We offer:
It’s commonly known that being more active improves your overall health, and doing something as simple as walking more can help add years to your life. Our OptoGait Mobility Screening system evaluates a person’s motion with advanced gait analysis technology capturing visual images along with objective data to assess mobility.
This technology is the same tool used by professional athletes, measuring walking speed, running patterns, and jumping mechanics to 1000th of a second and pinpointing deviations that are not visible to the naked eye. It is more accurate and comprehensive than any other gait-tracking system, allowing clinicians to identify problems on the spot and correct them before injuries and pain occur.
A 10-minute mobility screening could provide the information you need for greater speed and agility, while putting you on the right track for a healthier, longer life.
The OceanFirst Rehabilitation Center at CentraState offers free mobility screenings to anyone over the age of 50, as well as younger individuals with a history of injuries, chronic disease, or loss of mobility. To schedule an appointment, call 732-637-6316.
