Back-to-school time means back to playing sports. Here are some tips for parents to keep your kids safe when they get back in the game.

Prevent Dehydration
Make sure your child is fully hydrated before playing sports. Send them with a refillable water bottle to drink from throughout the day.

Take Breaks
Taking a short break after every 20-25 minutes of exercise can give your child the chance to refuel and rest.

Stretch
Stretching before and after playing sports is a proven way to prevent injury.

When In Doubt, Sit Them Out
If your child experiences pain or fatigue, already has an injury, or you suspect an injury, cease activity until they are 100%. This will prevent more serious injuries.

Adult Supervision
Overseeing that children use equipment properly and practice safe behavior can help to avoid injury or accidents.

Protective Gear
Make sure your child wears the appropriate protective gear when playing outside. Helmets, kneepads, and even the proper footwear can help to prevent injury.

Know How To Play
Make sure your child knows how to use all athletic equipment involved and follows the rules of the sport.
